Departure Lounge’s Italy Specialist Domenico Saponaro is guiding a trip to his homeland in Southern Italy for Departure Lounge clients April 20-30, 2016. Here’s a look at the itinerary for this group. Maybe you’ll want to join?

Wednesday 20th – We catch a flight to Italy. For the lucky ones already there, we all meet in Naples’ airport or directly at the Hotel.

Thursday 21st – We have a private transfer from Naples’ airport to Positano in the Amalfi Coast (Unesco World Heritage Site). In the evening we dine all together, a welcome dinner in which we can know each other a little better.
We stay at Villa Franca Hotel, luxury hotel in Positano.

Friday 22nd – Full day visit in Capri with private boat. The itinerary includes a visit of the Blue Grotto.

Saturday 23rd – Half day visit in Pompei (Unesco World Heritage Site) with private guide. We visit the town entirely covered by the Vesuvius almost 2,000 years ago!

Sunday 24th – We leave Positano, East bound, to get to Matera in the Basilicata region. In the way to the “Città dei Sassi” (Unesco World Heritage Site), we stop in Ravello for some amazing views of the Amalfi coast.
In the evening we have dinner in Matera with specialita’ materane (Matera’s typical dishes).
Accommodation in a luxury boutique hotel.

Monday 25th – Tour in Matera with private guide.
In the evening we have dinner in Matera.

Tuesday 26th – We cross the border between Basilicata and the Puglia region (the “Heel of the Italian boot”).
Full day visit with private guide in Altamura, the “Città del pane” (bread), where we visit an artisanal cheese shop.
We have lunch all together with specialità altamurane (Altamura’s typical dishes).

Wednesday 27th – We move to Polignano, the jewel of the Adriatic sea, with a private transfer.
We explore Polignano with a private guide.
Accomodation in a Luxury Inn / Luxury resort.

Thursday 28th – Visit with private guide in Alberobello (Unesco world heritage site), land of “trulli” (cone-shaped-roofs houses, not to be found anywhere else in the world!).

Friday 29th – Full day visit in Bari with private guide. We assist to a homemade pasta making demonstration.
We have lunch all together with specialità baresi (Bari’s typical dishes).

Saturday 30th – A private transfer takes us to Bari’s airport to catch a flight back to Austin, TX. For the lucky ones that will extend their stay … buon per voi (good for you) !!!

Feel free anytime during the trip to have an aperitivo, a passeggiata, a gelato or a glass of wine … that’s what Italy is about !!!

5 meals based on local cuisine included (drinks not included).
