Laura B. Dugan is a luxury travel advisor based in North Carolina, working with clients across the United States. Laura B. Dugan Travel is an independent affiliate of Crafted Escapes, Departure Lounge, a Virtuoso agency.
Raised on Carmen Sandiego, Laura loved being quizzed on world capitals at an early age. Her father, who has traveled to more than 80 countries and all seven continents, belongs to The Explorers Club. Highlights from family trips include hiking in the Alps, seeing ancient ruins in Turkey, whitewater rafting in Idaho, and riding the Star Ferry in Hong Kong.
At Duke, Laura double-majored in English and French, studying abroad in Paris and London. She continued at Duke Law, spending a summer in Geneva working at an international law firm and studying international law. She practiced corporate law for several years, vacationing in Bora Bora, Ireland, Spain, and Morocco along the way.
Her two sons have been traveling with her since they were small. Recent travel includes Christmas in the Austrian Alps and Vienna, and a month through France, England, and Scotland with her family — the Loire Valley, the Dordogne, and Paris, then north by train through London, York, and Edinburgh, finishing in Gleneagles. Before that, a family safari in Botswana, Hawaiian festive celebration, Italy with the kids, Costa Rica spring break, a couples’ getaway to Maine, a family holiday in Antigua, skiing in Utah, a girls’ trip to the Cotswolds, a multi-generational villa in Jamaica, a mother/daughter trip to Paris, and an anniversary celebration in Greece are more highlights of travel in the past several years.
Laura plans for people who care about staying in the right hotel rather than simply a good one, and who want the planning handled so the trip feels effortless. Her standard is straightforward: every itinerary is one she would book for her own family.
