This is a hard one! My favorite trip was to Greece. I really enjoy planning before I get to the destination so I know the best things to see and do– and especially where to eat. However, leaving room for spontaneity while traveling is an excellent way to explore and discover a country and its people. Spontaneity led me to a very long stairway down to the ocean where I found a taverna serving whole fish, grilled octopus and the crispest white wine. The dramatic cliffs and sunset views of Santorini were truly breathtaking. Being on a sailboat to a neighboring uninhabited island for a hike, followed by a dip in a hot springs was a highlight. I also loved Paros, a much smaller island, with secret beaches that were fairly empty and tiny, quaint towns. The white churches contrasted with the blue Aegean and it was magical.
