History

As a Sommelier, wine writer, and burgeoning winemaker, I give a unique perspective on wine travel. I enjoy helping fellow wine lovers dig deeper into wine by experiencing wine regions around the globe. Utilizing all of the resources of Departure Lounge, coupled with my own personal contacts in various wine regions, I can curate a truly memorable trip.
Living in the Texas Hill Country, I love to bring people to the region to experience the small-town charm and surprising wines our area has to offer. The warm southern hospitality, true Texas pride, and a wide variety of wine styles make the Hill Country worthy of the national recognition it has received. I’m proud to be known as the Texas Wine Country Curator with access to luxury hotels and private vacation rentals, as well as personalized experiences at local wineries and restaurants.
While wine is my specialty, I also have extensive experience with National Parks. My favorite place to visit is Napa Valley, but Yellowstone National Park is a close second for the unforgettable wildlife and scenery.
And if golf is your game, I have traveled the US, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, and Scotland with my husband in pursuit of the perfect round.
Whether you’re traveling alone, with your favorite person, or as a group, I’d love the help you enjoy a memorable vacation.
I’ve lived my whole life with a priority on travel and experiences over material things – well, that’s if you don’t count wine! Some of my favorite trips were simple road trips with my husband to Big Bend for horseback riding and ATVs or or with girlfriends to Santa Fe for hot air ballooning and stacked enchiladas.
I have planned a travel experience for three couples to play iconic golf courses in Scotland, complete with castles, shopping, and high tea. Group travel is always fun for me because each person has different expectations for the trip and it’s important to satisfy everyone’s wishes. It’s a fun challenge.
Selfishly, my favorite trips are the anniversary trips I take with my husband. We were married in 2000, and we started a unique tradition where we go down the letter of the alphabet for each year we are married. Our gifts, travel, restaurant, and wine will revolve around that letter. 2018 was our 18th anniversary, and the letter R is the 18th letter of the alphabet. We traveled to Rome and stayed at Rocco Forte House and had a romantic dinner at Roscioli with a bottle of Roberto Voerzio.
I’ve been privileged to have so many fantastic trips. What stands out to me most are the trips with a purpose, whether it is to celebrate an important date or to play an infamous golf course. Planning every trip based on the needs of each traveler is what makes being a travel advisor fun for me!
