Explore beautiful Alaska next summer with Silversea on this amazing sailing:

July 11, 2016 | 12 Days

In 1732, Peter the Great commissioned Vitus Bering to map the entire coastline of Northeast Asia and to determine conclusively whether a land bridge existed to the New World. It was the largest and most expensive expedition the world had ever seen, and so too, this Northern Expedition can only be described in superlatives. Following partly in Bering’s path, it will reach the rarely visited Chukotka, the Pribilofs, the Aleutian Islands, and Kodiak –the only American landfall of his expedition. Huge populations of nesting seabirds will be seen. Sailing in July, it will take full advantage of the mid-summer sun, travelling on nature’s terms. For the adventure traveler, this is one of the world’s great journeys, an expedition that beckons nature lovers and the intrepid explorer within.

Expedition Highlights:
Marvel at spectacular natural landscapes, pristine tundra and massive volcanoes.
Travel along the historic routes of explorers and traders.
Be on the lookout for rare wildlife including the Western Grey Whale and Steller’s Sea Lion.
Identify countless birds: puffins, guillemots, cormorants, Steller’s Sea Eagle, Brown-headed Thrush, Siberian Rubythroats, Black-legged Kittiwakes, and Crested or Whiskered Auklets.
Photograph a variety of wildlife including walrus, fur seal, otter, Red Fox and the Brown Bear.
Cruise and explore remote villages by Zodiac.

Between 11 and 13 qualified specialists, many with a PhD or Professor to their name, will be on hand during every voyage and shore excursion. They’ll give lecuters, run workshops, lead Zodiac trips and guide nature walks. This Expedition is welcomes multi generational families.
